Dr. Gopala Sasie Rekha is a Lecturer in Criminology in the Department of Policing, Criminology, and Forensics at the University of Winchester. She obtained her PhD in Sociology, Social Policy, and Criminology from the University of Southampton in 2022. Her PhD dissertation, titled “Life After Trafficking: The Social Reintegration Process of Victims of Sex Trafficking and Their Families in Indonesia,” laid the foundation for her current research and teaching at the intersection of criminology, sociology, law, and gender studies.
Following the completion of her PhD, she has actively contributed to academic literature, with her work appearing in Trends in Organized Crime, Law, Technology and Humans, and The Howard Journal of Crime and Justice. She has also published a book chapter with IGI Global focused on forensic investigations in human trafficking cases, and another chapter is forthcoming with Routledge, exploring the challenges faced by indigenous communities navigating human trafficking in Myanmar. Currently, she is writing a monograph on the lives of sex trafficking victims, also for Routledge, while simultaneously working on a project investigating the recruitment processes and entrapment pathways of children into sex trafficking in Indonesia.
Dr. Sasie Rekha’s commitment to academic service extends beyond her home institution.
